Brief description: መ ቻ ቻ ል : ሸዋ በር – Mechachal - The Shewa Ber is a market place in Harar, in earlier times the largest one in East Africa. At Shewa Ber not only goods and multiple colours mix, but also Muslims, Christians and more than further 50 ethnic groups, with their languages and habits. The term Mechachal is used often in Harar. Its meaning is for complementary cultures: Respect each other, present and accept with love. An admirable peaceful and respectful blend – a dream for other places of this world.
Nine double pages have irregular borders. They are made of cloth, two tissues each, gelatinated and sewn to keep them in shape. Photographs by Clemens-Tobias Lange . Printed as intaglio "chine collé" and other images, printed with letterpress. Inserted between the colourful material are smaller-sized white soft pages with excerpts of the Bible and the Quran. Bound and cased by Thomas Zwang.

Brief description:
Nine Saints. Each name of a Saint, printed in georgian alphabet is followed by a doublepage with the image of a surface of a wall, full page, lifsize alike. The technic of the photogravure etching allows to have strong, tar–alike blacks. As key to the work we have Clemens-Tobias Langes visit to many churches in Georgia in 2007. For different reasons, all the historic icons in the churches were scratched or hidden. He was impressed by the deeply religious people sedulously praying in front of the walls, illuminated by innumerous candles. These candles are painting with their smoke new icons of Saints during the prayer. A book in memory of the anchestors linking to another part of the world.
Flexible binding with handmade paper Moulin Richard de Bas, France, 240 g/m, treated with bee-wax by the artist.
